I have been well aware, for a long time now, that I am not going to win any literary awards for Bird Therapy. I accept that as a ‘work’ it is flawed, but as a tool it has helped a lot of people; and over time, as my priorities have altered, I have accepted that this is what really matters. Today is my birthday, and Birdwatch magazine just flopped through my door via the postman – what a birthday treat, honour and surprise to see that Bird Therapy is the Birder’s Choice Book of the Year 2019. Thank you so much to the people that voted for it, you have made my day!
